The anniversary is an occasion to present one of the largest Bulgarian libraries in an unconventional, unusual light - as a guardian and promoter of art. This activity began in the early years of its existence and was suggested by the desire of Veliko Tarnovo citizens to donate to it not only books and periodicals, but also documents, photographs, paintings, prints.
Undoubtedly, these gestures are the result of the authority and trust that the library enjoys, and also of the vision of the builders of the new Bulgaria, who gave it the status of a depository, and thus de jure made it nationally significant, with responsibilities towards Bulgarian culture.

I try to light the fire in the hearth, but the wood is raw, not burning. An opaque flame crawls across the surface of one of the trees, licks it and exhales instantly. Hot smoke fills the kitchen. I touch a second stick, but the effect is the same. I kneel in front of the hearth and start mouth-blowing, swinging the broom over the piled wood, hopefully waking the glimmering spark, but soon it too is extinguished. No, nothing will happen without dry wood. I fetch dry kindling and scratch the stick again.
The flame licks the white pile, the pine trees begin to crackle, sputter and spit out their red tongues. But they are lush, impatient, and by the time I shake them they have turned to ash, and the kitchen hasn't even caught a whiff of the heat. I put more of the kindling, but next to it a few dry hornbeam trees split in two.
The flames dance a riotous dance, the embers' eyes glittering beneath them. And only then do they wake up - the raw wood I struggled to light at first. They look around hesitantly, but when they see the whirling dance of the dry flames, they hold out their hands timidly, they passionately take them in their arms, and a frenzied dance takes place in the hearth. It gets so warm in the kitchen that I start to undress... But good thing I had the dry kindling!

More than 50 poetic inspirations in three languages - Bulgarian, English and Spanish, have been collected in her new book of poetry by Ruza Velcheva. The book is called "Out of Paradise" and was presented to a select audience last night at the Rafael Mihailov Exhibition Hall in Veliko Tarnovo.
The poetry in the collection is gathered in three cycles. "The first is with poems on sea themes, the second is with haiku and the third cycle is with love poetry. Because you can't do without love poems and, as a friend of mine says, it's better out of Heaven if in Heaven I will be forced to live without love," the Tarnovo poet told her admirers. The deputy director of the library Kalina Ivanova and the critic Vladimir Shumelov presented the poetry of Ruzha Velcheva and herself.
The translator of the poems in "Out of Paradise" is Ruzha Velcheva herself, who used Diana Demireva and Georgi Georgiev as consultants for the English and Spanish versions of her poetry.

Personalities like Prof. Ivan Bochev seem to have the impulses of our native culture to be read as worthy of the European value of significant plastic solutions in book design and font.
When we try to look into his life and creative path, we invariably start with his birthplace, the Veliko Tarnovo village of Draganovo. We usually associate the characteristic of the picturesque village with the fact that it is famous as a "village of poets" - Asen Raztsvetnikov, Kamen Zidarov, Vladimir Rusaliev, Rumen Stoyanov, Yordan Atanasov and others. Such fine artists were born and took their first creative steps here, who rank in the phalanx of the classics, firmly connected to the Bulgarian verbal art. It is indisputable that we can also call it the "village of artists". Parallel to this significant phenomenon in the village by the meandering river Yantra, a dozen masters of the brush also found their appearance, among them the names of fine art lovers such as Nikola Bachvarov, Dimitar Rusanov, Dr. Petko Dachev and quite a few intellectuals who touched in their own original way with the colorful palette and reflected in their own way the vast nature of Draganov. we must note that there is another group of artists who stand more authoritatively and permanently in the fine arts. Here are the names of Atanas Popov - the first drawing teacher in the village school, who left his mark by painting the community hall curtain and the first theater set. Grigor Parvev, who successfully participated in national exhibitions, takes his place among the masters of painting. His attention is permanently drawn and engaged with the historical subject. From the whole amalgam of skilled artists in the field of speech and painting, the name of Prof. Ivan Bochev stands out with his handwriting and style for recreating the reality that is present in literary works.
