Regional Library "Petko R. Slaveykov" - Veliko Tarnovo over the last ten years has established an extremely prestigious cultural event, which is the "Foyer of the book with an autograph". The philosophy of this forum is related to the promotion of Bulgarian printed book production not only in the region, but also nationally.
Over the years, publishing houses from the Veliko Tarnovo region have been highlighted with priority and the book production of academic publishers has been emphasised with particular importance.
During this period, there has been an increased interest in initiatives related to presentations of leading publishers with the whole palette of titles. The premieres have stood out and have significantly raised the profile of individual events and of the Forum as a whole. Events with leading Bulgarian authors, preferred over the years by the general reading public, whose impeccable sense of taste the library organisers trust implicitly, took an exceptional place. The individual initiatives contributed significantly to enriching the forms related to the promotion and validation of modern methods related to books and reading.
The meetings, talks, and in-depth discussions on the problems of Bulgarian literature that have been organized have considerably increased the interest in the historical theme related to the Old Capital. A characteristic feature of the organized events was the illustration, graphic design and layout of the book body, which led to the presentation of samples of polygraphy.
The events provided an opportunity to meet books, artists, authors of artistic texts with a wide range of visitors from different age and social groups, resulting in a fruitful dialogue between artists and readers.
The initiative is in direct relation and is imposed as part of the Cultural Development Strategy of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, it is distinguished by the sustainability and long-term nature of the events with a significant contribution to the cultural calendar.
For the Veliko Tarnovo Library, this has contributed to taking a worthy place in the consolidation of the historical memory of the Tarnovo School of Literature and to the restoration of the place of the old capital as the spiritual and historical capital of the Bulgarian state.
