The National Crime Writing Contest, under the general title of "/The/ Unsolved Case," will launch in 2021. The contest is held over a one- or two-month period, traditionally during the fall season of a given calendar year.

Main goal: To stimulate reading, creative writing, creativity and original thinking in relation to fiction.

Jury: The jury may consist of three or four people. It shall include a representative(s) of the library and two more distinguished authors in the field of literature, science or social and cultural life in the Old Capital City.

Rules. The maximum thematic scope of the story is allowed - crime, crime thriller, action-thriller, political thriller, psycho-thriller or legal thriller.

The national competition is open to all citizens, without age, professional or other restrictions. The competition is held over one or two months, traditionally during the fall season of a given calendar year.

The beginning and the end of the competition are officially announced through the website of the RB "Petko. Р. Slaveykov", as well as with the help of the various printed or electronic media in the country.

Awarding. After the above-mentioned indicative period, it shall issue its assessment on the ranking of the awarded participants. The exact date, venue and scenario for the specific award ceremony for each of the authors is determined by the library itself, depending on its current cultural calendar. Traditionally, first and second place winners receive a library badge of honor, a painting, a financial prize, books, and an individual certificate of participation as a prize. Third place artists receive individual certificates, books, and shopping vouchers from various bookstores in town. Those awarded incentive prizes receive books and individual certificates. And at the discretion of the librarians themselves, depending on residency, winners may also receive one-year free library cards for the institution.

After the awards ceremony itself, the names of the winners and their stories are posted on the library's website.

By broadcasting campaigns that have already become sustainable initiatives, the Regional Library "Petko R. Slaveykov" consolidates its position as an institution with a great contribution to the cultural life of Veliko Tarnovo.
