In November 2006, four large public libraries launched the project "Network of regional libraries for the storage of rare and particularly significant collections through the use of new and more effective methods", financed by the Ministry of Education and Science under the Program "Research of the national cultural and historical values as part of the European cultural heritage and modern methods of their preservation".

The consolidated catalog "Old Printed, Rare and Valuable Editions" provides information on manuscript and old printed library collections through more than 2,500 bibliographic descriptions. It reflects all the features of the editions related to endowment funds, bookplates, autographs, handwritten notes and dedications, physical features such as missing pages, cover images, title pages, bibliographic descriptions from various sources. The library catalogue contains detailed bibliographic information on the books, periodicals and non-traditional information media (CDs, DVDs, sheet music, maps, graphics, etc.) received by the library since 1994.
The database is in a continuous process of retrospective updating with records of library documents from the period 1878-1993, and currently over 85% of the library collections have been uncovered.
The periodicals catalog is fully developed and provides information on all newspapers, magazines, single sheets, and scholarly publications such as proceedings, proceedings, yearbooks, and notices received and held by the library from 1860 to the present.

Analytical descriptions of articles from the local and central periodicals, books, parts of books and periodical collections covering all areas of social, economic, political and spiritual life in Veliko Tarnovo and Veliko Tarnovo region, materials on the life and activities of prominent personalities born in the region or contributing to its development.
The bibliographic descriptions date from 1994 to the present, and are continually updated and supplemented with records from the local history card catalogue, which was built up decades before the introduction of automation into library work. The card catalogue currently offers over 185,000 items of information to help local historians, scholars and researchers.
