On March 21, 2023 at 15.00 in the foyer of the Regional Library were awarded the prizes in the annual contest My hometown. For the twenty-third time the Regional Department of Education - Veliko Tarnovo and the Regional Library "Petko R. Slavejkov announced the competition for children's and youth creativity in the fields of literature and fine arts on the theme "Patriarch Evtimiy and the Tarnovo Literary School".
Until 03.03.2023 the organizers collected works, and on 10.03.2023 they were submitted for judging. The sections "Poetry" and "Prose" were judged by the philologists Bisera Dzhivoderova, Valentina Kamburova and Elina Daneva, and the section "Fine Art" by the artists Maria Kovacheva, Sasho Filev and Stanimir Borisov. Both committees were under the honorary chairmanship of Eng. Rosalia Licheva - Head of the RDE, Sofia. Dr. Kalina Ivanova - Director of the Regional Library "Petko R. Slaveykov". Nearly 100 works were juried, of which the majority were those wishing to participate in the Art section. The traditional first, second and third places in each section and the respective age category were awarded. Again this year, the organizers awarded participants with incentive prizes. There were awards for active participation for teachers and supervisors. Traditionally, artists from Veliko Tarnovo and nearby settlements took part. With the preliminary preparation of the celebration, the organizers were pleased to note that the contest "My Hometown" remains recognizable and preferred, against the background of the many competitions that have been announced in the same terms.
The debut was made by the students of the III "B" class with class teacher Mrs. Elena Angelova of the "St. Patriarch Evtimiy" Primary School, who made projects for the patron of their school, on the occasion of the celebration of the institution where they study, and subsequently a parent has suggested the works to participate in the competition "My hometown", whose theme this year coincides.

In the section "Poetry" Second prize in the age category from 7 to 10 years, went to Philip Petrov 9 years old, a student in III E class of the Secondary School "Emilian Stanev". The winner of the First Prize was a pupil from the III E class of the "Emilian Stanev" school. This is the 9-year-old Boyan Dyankov.
Up to 14 years of age, awarded for poetic creativity with the third prize are 13-year-old Ilena Stepanova and 12-year-old Angelina Kostova from the Literary Club "Pegasus (read)" at the Municipal Children's Complex in the town of St. Petersburg. The second prize was awarded to Beihan Angelov, 13 years old, also from the club "Pegasus (read)". The winner of the First Prize is Denis Ivanov, 11 years old, a fifth grader at Vela Blagoeva Secondary School.
One diploma went to 12-year-old Raya Bankova from the Pegasus(Cheta) Club, and the other was awarded to 11-year-old Ivana Doncheva from Vela Blagoeva School.
In the "Prose" section, the second prize in the age group 11-14 was awarded to Georgi Mirchev, a fifth grader from Vela Blagoeva School. First prize in the category was awarded to 11-year-old Venelin Angelov, also from Vela Blagoeva School. It was his work that impressed the competition committee the most out of all the juried works in the "Literature" field.
In the "Prose" section, Maria-Nikol Tsaneva, a student in the 11th grade of the "Vasil Drumev" Natural and Mathematical High School, deserved the Encouragement Prize, while the First Prize in the category went to 16-year-old Ivona-Siyana Staneva, a student at the "Angel Popov" Vocational High School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy.
A diploma for active work with students in the "Creative Writing" direction was awarded to Daniela Solakova, a teacher at "Vela Blagoeva" Secondary School, Sofia. She was awarded with a prize.
A large number of projects were received again this year. The jury awarded them for their outstanding work and originality of execution.
Prize for active participation in the Project section from 7 to 10 years is awarded to Alexandrina Garkova, Venetsiya Kardjieva, Viktoria Ivanova, Danaya Stoyanova, Iva Andreeva, Kristina Kostadinova, Magdalena Kancheva, Martin Donchev, Sianna Rashkova, Simona Baicheva, Stanislav Slavchev, students from III "B" class of "St. Patriarch Evtimiy" Primary School and their class teacher Mrs. Elena Angelova. A special prize was also awarded for a project from 11 to 14 years. It was awarded to 12-year-olds Sevdalin Marinov, Naiden Filipov and Shishman Shishmanov, students in the sixth grade of St. Peter and Paul Primary School. They were awarded to Teodor Kolev from III "E" class of "Emilian Stanev" School - Veliko Tarnovo. Veliko Tarnovo, Delyan Dimitrov, 10 years old, from the primary school "Petko R. Slaveykov - gr. A diploma for active participation was awarded to Dr. Tsanka Marinova, class teacher of III "E" class from "Emilian Stanev" school.
Also for active participation diplomas were awarded to Mrs. Petya Paneva - representative of Panev Gallery and Mrs. Katerina Milusheva - head of the "Colorful Dreams" club at the "Hristo Botev" Primary School - Veliko Tarnovo.
In the section "Fine Arts" the jurying in the age category from 15 to 18 years was a challenge for the committee due to the traditionally high level of the participants' performance every year.
The incentive prize was awarded to Ralitsa Totseva, 16 years old, a student in IX class of "Emilian Stanev" school.
The third prize in the category from 15 to 18 years was awarded to 16-year-old Mima Raynova and 16-year-old Elitsa Daneva from the High School of Construction. The second prize was also awarded to two participants.
Given the great competition in the category and First Prize received two participants. The organizers had also prepared surprises with the assistance of partners in this year's edition. Students from the Language High School, led by Margarita Marinova, performed a poetry recital, "A Tale of Tarnovgrad", based on texts by prominent Tarnovo poets, and the School of Folk Instruments "Descendants"/Gr. Lyaskovets/ with the head Stefan Pechikamakov delighted us with musical performances. The award ceremony once again turned into a kind of celebration.
The awarded works from all sections were arranged in an exhibition accompanying the award ceremony. The award ceremony was part of the events of the cultural calendar of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, Regional Library and Regional Department of Education on the occasion of the City Day - March 22.
