The book Let Us Remember - Stories from History by the author Rosen Petrov is:
- a book about the facts we need to know;
- a book about the places we need to rediscover;
- a book about the heroes we need to remember;
- a book about the things that make us Bulgarians;
- a book that shows us what we were so we can know what we can be;
- a journey into the past that can take us into the future...
Did you know that Europe was part of the province of Thrace? That there is a Bulgarian mountain in Asia Minor? That the Bulgarian woman Khristina Khranova was the world's first female sea rescuer? That Second Lieutenant Stratiya Mazgalov and his soldiers burned alive to avoid surrendering to the enemy? That the discovery of the Bulgarian scientist Ivan Stransky is the basis of the digital industry? That there are two Bulgarian revolutionaries named Hristo Botev? That the poet and voivode Botev wrote a mathematics textbook? After more than 20 years devoted to history, I tried to answer these and dozens of other questions in this book. The stories I have presented are individual small pieces of the body of our memory. Some tell of the lives of forgotten figures, others of interesting places and relics, others are essays dedicated to named and nameless characters. They are not an exhaustive picture of our history, but they are certainly part of what makes us Bulgarians.
