The Children's Department at BIC "Slaveyche" was opened on 09. 02. 1999 and contains over 22 000 library items. They are mostly intended for younger readers and for pupils up to the seventh grade.
In another room of the department there is a Room of Fairy Tales, designed for reading books and holding various events from the cultural calendar of the library. Since the beginning of 2024, the ES language, Peranto, has been taught free of charge. This activity is carried out through the formed and registered club "Green Starlets" at the Bulgarian Esperanto Union in Sofia.
During the summer months - July and August - popular films based on Bulgarian and foreign classics are screened to various audiences to support students' summer reading. The department also maintains its own Facebook page, which reflects new arrivals, various cultural events, donors and materials to help parents and children with their education and wider interests.
