On the occasion of the 840th anniversary of the Asenevtsi uprising and the proclamation of Tarnovgrad as the capital, Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, together with the Union of Bulgarian Writers and the Regional Library "Petko R. Slavejkov", announces a national competition for unpublished works in the genres of prose, poetry and essays.
Deadline for submitting entries: 24 October 2025.
Genres for participation:
Prose (short story)
Poetry (cycle of up to 5 poems)
Essay (literary or journalistic essay, including travelogue)
Prerequisites:
For Bulgarian citizens over 18 years of age
Unpublished works only (including online)
One author is allowed to enter one work in one of the categories

The works are sent anonymously!
In a separate envelope to the works the following information is placed:
- Author's first name, last name, pseudonym (if any);
- Contact phone number and e-mail address;
- Short creative biography in narrative form, third person singular, up to 500 characters;
